 Enjoy 1 hour and 30 minutes to discover a unique technical museum which, since 1988, has made the history of the railway accessible to all – this mode of transport which has revolutionized our societies and contributed so much to our societies. Visit HistoRail, a registered trademark since 2005, partner of SNCF and La Vie du Rail, the Haute-Vienne Departmental Council and the municipality of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat. In two rooms of 270 m² and 160 m² plus outdoor areas, you will find an original scenography that will lead you to discover the railway workers' jobs essential to rail travel. A great deal of real equipment is presented in a logical order, from the ticket office, through your train, its operation thanks to a real simulator that was used by SNCF, signaling panels, and under the train the "railway maintenance area" which will allow you to understand the difficult but indispensable job of the railway workers, nicknamed "mole catchers". Numerous model railway networks are scattered among this real equipment: They provide educational support to the comments of our volunteers and employees, but also an essential fun aspect during this guided tour which is full of technical explanations. Depuis 53 ans, le Festival du Mont-Gargan s'est fixé pour objectif d'animer son petit bout territoire au pied du Mont-Gargan, haut lieu & de la Haute-Vienne (87), au travers de manifestations aussi différentes que : bal trad, marché de producteurs, spectacles, bals, marche etc... Un peu d'histoire !! M. Desbordes, instituteur à la Croisille-sur-Briance, et membre du groupe de l'Escòla dau Mont-Gargan , eu l'idée de créer une manifestation au sommet du Mont-Gargan. Le tout 1er festival, qui ne s'appelait pas encore comme cela, vit le jour le 28 Août 1966. Aujourd'hui et 53 ans plus tard, 95 groupes français et étrangers ont découverts notre région, et des milliers de spectateurs ont découverts des cultures différentes, des pays différents, des régions françaises différentes. Depuis 1992, le Festival du Mont-Gargan se déroule tous les 15 août, et depuis 2012, ce festival de déroule sur 4 jours. Depuis 1966, plusieurs dizaines de membres et bénévoles de l'Escòla dau Mont-Gargan se mobilisent au cœur de l'été pour faire de cette manifestation, un festival reconnu pour la promotion et la diffusion des Arts et Traditions Populaires et la culture occitane. Malgré les difficultés, les anciens présidents, Lucienne Lascaux, Jean-Loup Deredempt et Eliane Mazabraud, ont su tenir le cap. Qu'ils en soient remerciés aujourd'hui !
